About the Initiative
Sports for HELP is a charitable initiative of the HELP Project, created to promote student well-being through the simple yet powerful tool of team sports. Run in collaboration with schools across Hong Kong, it gives young people a safe, positive environment where they can play, connect, and grow.
The HELP Project runs year-round to provide hope and emotional support to youth facing challenges such as stress, anxiety, and depression. Sports for HELP is guided by Gilbert Ferreira, a youth mentor from Brazil with deep experience in community-based youth development.
In Hong Kong, it is estimated over 30%* of students silently struggle under academic pressure and long study hours. We believe the road to resilience and balance doesn’t have to be complicated—it can begin with something accessible, fun, and universal: sports. By bringing students together on the field, we open the door to healthier minds, stronger friendships, and brighter futures.
